ABOUT US

OUR STORY

Dr Steve and Jennifer are Arkansans.  He has lived in Arkansas for 55 years and she has lived there for her entire life.  They met in 2007,  became instant soul mates, and married in 2008.  Being close to retirement from their professional careers, they chose to transition into traveling the world and exploring nature.   After several cruises, they decided to become an Enrichment Speaker team.  Dr Steve provides the talks and Jennifer acts as his promoter, communications director, and personal assistant.  If you see them on board, be sure to stop and talk.  They really enjoy talking to passengers. (Especially Jennifer, she has the unlimited talk plan!)

Dr Steve

Dr Steven Dobbs has BS and MS degrees in physics and a PhD in electrical engineering from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville.  He has been a CIA gent, a college professor, a nuclear power plant engineer, and a contractor/consultant.  He is an avid traveler and outdoorsman.  He has visited all seven continents and all fifty states.  He enjoys hunting, fishing, boating, camping, hiking, wildlife viewing, and photography.  He has worked two tours in Antarctica as a Research Associate for USAP (United States Antarctic Program), first at Palmer Station and then at McMurdo Station.  In each case he was responsible for the operation and maintenance of multiple long-term computer-based experiments.  Most recently, he has spent considerable time exploring Alaska and sharing his experiences with others.

Jennifer

Jennifer is a retired RN. She spent most of her career in ICU, Cardiac, and Education. Since they married, she says “Dr. Steve has taken me around the world,  7 continents, 50 states, and the bridge of a cruise ship”. One of her jobs as travel “sidekick” is researching ports and planning hikes. She loves to camp, hike, fish, and hunt in Arkansas, as well as travel to interesting places around the world. She loves Alaska a lot (she will share her  favorite hikes & excursions with you) and encourages Dr. Steve to take every offer to go there.  She also feels very privileged to have traveled to Antarctica and walked among the penguins. Ask her about their Polar Plunge at Deception Island – she has photos!
